  5. This Micro-Mod modelling/imaging program features printer Q.C. and final
  6. plotter output of synthetic seismic time sections from user's
  7. geological/geophysical models (rock velocities, densities, thickness). Inverse,
  8. imaging mode input is seismic travel-time data (field source-detector records
  9. or processed sections); output is imaged 2-D geologic depth section. The
  10. recursive layer-by-layer algorithms handle complex geological/geophysical
  11. models, reflection and refraction wave-fields, and are based on wave equation
  12. applied in frequency domain. Concurrent velocity determination is contemplated.
  13. Interaction speed and friendliness are paramount; principal users are
  14. geologists or groups, at their desks, with little knowledge or interest in
  15. programming, who wish to predict expected time data and image observed time
  16. data in depth with varying parameters. Extension of use to non-petroleum,
  17. non-exploration/production fields (medicine, oceanography, etc.) is foreseen.
